Weight loss is something which most people have tried or wish to do in order to achieve a slim figure and as a result there are as many unscientific methods and suggestions as there are people who love to advise each other. There is no problem in trying a particular weight loss method and sharing the experience with family and friends , but there is a fine line between sharing personal experiences and trying to advise others like a- know it all , as little knowledge can get dangerous .

Eat everything and hit the gym, it will burn everything away!
Most people think the body metabolism is like a fireplace where we can burn away all the foods, but in reality it is not so , body metabolism is not a furnace but a complex series of biological interactions which systematically break the food into food chains and components with biological enzymes and reactions and ultimately get the protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals etc.s to be separated and moved for their individual roles , so you can not eat junk and expect the body to burn it off the way we people burn junk in their backyard . exercise has its own specific role and effects and while it definitely improves metabolism , lung capacity , body tone and heart pumping , it can not act as a destruction method for irresponsible eating .
Eat everything, but in moderation!
This advise definitely comes from know it alls who have no clue about food science or human biology.
This advise is so ambiguous that anybody can make anything out of it , to begin with eat everything sounds like music to everyone and therefore people love such advises, but it is very painful if you try to follow it because there are simply no results after trying this for several months also. This unscientific advise does not work for several reasons because nowhere it guides about what does moderation mean, how much of the foods which are considered fattening, at what interval and in what quantities ? It leaves everything to the imagination and trust me people can get really imaginative without a clear guidance I know people who consider 6 drinks as moderation while consuming alcohol, eating burgers thrice a week is also moderation, the same goes for pizzas, chips, chocolates ice creams .
To lose weight eat less
This is a very amusing and completely unscientific way of losing weight. It simply means keep eating less till you get results and often ends in starvation diets. Anybody advising this has to be alien to human biology .
Low calorie diets were in the ear when no knowledge about food science in connection with human metabolic process was known and it lead to funny conjectures and advisories. low calorie diets have failed worldwide due to side effects and associated problems. The side effects due to low calorie diets include acidity, gas, low blood pressure, severe hair fall, skin problems etc.
Children can eat everything as they are active
This is the age to eat everything, because when they grow up they anyway have to curtail due to health problems.
This advise comes from people who consider breakdown and repair on the same lines as preventive maintenance and who think that till the time the body does not give up or collapse it can be treated as we feel like.
Children are the most vulnerable to junk food, and junk food is not to be consumed with children’s foods. Just because advertisements show kids it does not make that food as a special food for kids.kids brain and organs are rapidly growing and at this stage it is most vital that that kids the right kind of food which does not damage their brain or bodies.
This advise needs modification to say that kids need to eat a wide variety and kind of healthy foods in order to get nutritional benefits from a range of good foods which should include the correct amount of essential oils and fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals.
The diet mentality is not the correct mindset as it is purely cosmetic in nature and does nothing to improve health or manage weight in the long term, it is a short term flirtation without any long term intentions.
